Welcome to my website. I am a travel writer and photographer, specialising in landscapes, wildlife and adventure travel.

I have written four guidebooks and contributed to many others, all for Trailblazer Publications. If you'd like to buy a book click on "Books" above. My articles have appeared in magazines such as Wanderlust and High Mountain Sports. I’m also an editor, proofreader and a Fellow of the Royal Geographical Society. PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography is a large part of what I do. I've been a regular semi-finalist of the BBC Wildlife Photographer of the Year Competition since 2006. Landscape and wildlife photography is my thing but I’m happy to turn my hand to anything from portraits to weddings. My photographs have appeared in a number of magazines and newspapers including the BBC News website, Press and Journal, The Scotsman, Wanderlust magazine and Trailblazer guidebooks.
ABOUT ME
I live in Knoydart, a remote peninsula on the west coast of Scotland, accessible only by boat or a two-day walk from the nearest road. When I’m not busy with writing and photography projects, I work as a ranger for the Knoydart Foundation, the community organisation who own and manage the estate. Knoydart hasn't always been my home. Over the past 35 years I have lived in Kent, Sussex, Stirling, Edinburgh, London, Barcelona and West Linton in the Pentland Hills. I have also been - what some might call - an itinerant, spending many months in India, Nepal, Chile and Canada. Where next?
