WELCOME

I am training to be a wildlife cameraman but I have also worked as an adventure travel guidebook author and photographer. My posts are quite sporadic because I tend to spend as much time as I can out with my camera. Hopefully, what I do write and photograph is worth the wait.

WILDLIFE FILM

I’m studying an MA in Wildlife Documentary Production at the University of Salford (2012-13). I’ve been a wildlife nut since my childhood years on Ashdown Forest where I’d watch badgers and foxes and collect animal skulls. I was a committee member of the Mammal Society Youth Group, attending “expeditions” across the UK and then appeared on the children’s TV series ‘Wildabout’ as a mammal expert.

After gaining a degree in Environmental Science from Stirling University, I spent some time at Partridge Films in Bristol and went to Patagonia on a Raleigh International expedition. In recent years I mentored children in camera operation on four First Light movie projects in Knoydart and the West Highlands, one of which, a film on woodlands, won best film by under 12s at the First Light Movie Awards at the Leicester Square Odeon in 2008.

In recent years I’ve appeared in the BBC Alba documentary series Trusadh, for an episode on wilderness, and also BBC Countryfile.
